Lost Mary BM600 Vs Uwell Caliburn AK2 Pod Kit - TABlites

Lost Mary BM600 Vs Uwell Caliburn AK2 Pod Kit

So you love the Lost Mary BM600, whether it’s the choice of flavours or the form factor it’s the height of convenience and ease of use. In the long run, however, using disposable vapes becomes expensive and causes a lot of waste.

Swapping to a refillable vape kit is not only better for your bank balance but also better for the environment.

Let's take a look at a pod kit that is similar in size and shape to the BM600 but performs better and lasts much longer.

Allow me to introduce the Caliburn AK2 kit from Uwell

Uwell Caliburn AK2

As you can see the AK2 is almost the same shape and a very similar size to the Lost Mary vape.

Ok so it’s heavier and slightly larger in size however this Is due to it being made from premium materials rather than single-use plastic and featuring more advanced electronics such as a rechargeable battery.

If we take a closer look at the specs of each product we can see why swapping out your disposable vapes for a pod kit like the Uwell or similar is such a good upgrade.

Price comparison

At the time of writing, we currently offer the Lost Marys in a multi-buy deal of 5 for £20 or a single for £4.95. This is a mix and match deal so you can select from a number of different disposable vape brands and flavours.

The Caliburn AK2 costs £19.99 and includes 2 free 10ml bottles of IVG Beyond vape juice with a choice of nic salt flavours.

We need to look beyond the initial cost, however. At initial purchase, both options cost roughly the same with the Vape kit even being the cheaper of the two.

A 10ml bottle of juice offers the same amount of vaping as 5 600 puff disposable vapes and at the time of writing you are getting 20mls free in total. It is clear you would be getting much better value from the Caliburn AK2.

With the AK2 after the initial purchase, it is only the replacement pods that are needed as the battery is a rechargeable unit. A pack of 4 Uwell Caliburn A2 Pods currently costs £11.99.

It’s difficult to say how long a single pod will last as it changes depending on the e-liquid used, how frequently you vape, and how long each time but a very rough estimate would be 1-3 weeks.

For an even cheaper initial cost there is also the Uwell A2 kit which is only £18.99 and is the stick version of the AK2, a similar shape to a Geek Bar.

We then need to factor in the vape juice you’ll need. Again it’s hard to put a timescale on how long your vape juice will last, however, a single 10ml bottle is the same amount of e-liquid found in 5 disposables so would last the average user around the same amount of time.

The Lost Mary costs £4.95 for a single unit. The entire unit will need to be replaced each time as the battery is non-rechargeable. Containing 2ml of vape juice and claiming 600 puffs per unit.

The real savings come when you compare the next 5 disposables you buy with the vape juice needed for a proper vape kit. If you buy another 5 Elf Bar Lost Marys then you're getting a total of 10ml of liquid. For the same £20, you would get around 60ml of vape juice depending on the range you go for.

This 60ml is the equivalent of 30 disposable vapes which would cost you over £100 which is an incredible saving. Even if you bought a pack of new pods every time you purchased liquid it would still amount to a considerable saving for you.

For a close replication of the lost Mary flavours, we would recommend either bar juice or our own TABlites nic salt range. These vape juices have been specially designed to replicate the most popular flavours across the huge selection of disposables currently available to purchase, and I’m sure there will be something you’ll love.

In comparison, a refillable vape kit has an almost endless list when it comes to what flavours are available. At TABlites, we offer vape juice from the biggest and best in the industry. Brands such as Doozy Vape, IVG, and Nasty Juice offer a plethora of choices. With different flavours, strengths and e-liquid mixtures on offer, there is a whole world of flavour to explore.

Design

Key to its design, the Lost Mary device is simple, with no complicated buttons, settings or changeable components. This simplicity makes it instantly accessible to new or experienced vapers alike.

At only 66 x 35 x 16mm and weighing only 30grams this super compact vape will fit into the smallest of pockets.

The BM600 has an airflow port on the base of the unit offering a fairly restrictive draw similar to a tobacco cigarette. This is a mouth-to-lung (MTL) device and is perfectly suited to a new vaper.

There's not much else to say about the Lost Mary’s design other than the rectangular body has fully rounded corners for a great feel in the hand and that the mouthpiece is off-centre.

In comparison measuring 67.9mm x 43.5mm x 11.8mm and weighing in at 35 grams the AK2 kit is slightly taller, slightly wider, and slightly heavier but also thinner than the Lost Mary. Most of this difference in size can be attributed to the larger battery, charging port and more advanced technology featured in the Uwell.

Similar in shape with an off-centre mouthpiece. The AK2 has a lanyard loop on one corner and features a window on the side for quick viewing of the remaining e-liquid.

Constructed from aluminium alloy glass the body of the AK2 has a premium feel compared to the cheap plastic used by Elf Bar for all of its disposable vapes including the BM600.

Features

Both the Lost Mary disposable and Caliburn AK2 vape device are equipped with inhale-activated technology, eliminating the need for buttons and settings. To activate the vape device, simply inhale through the mouthpiece to trigger the vape.

When the battery does run flat a blue LED on the base will blink 10 times to notify the vaper.

That’s it really for features on the BM600. It’s a single-use, and easy-to-vape disposable.

In contrast, the Uwell kit is feature rich.

With a 520mAh rechargeable battery, a single charge offers the potential to last the average vaper all day. When the battery runs low it can be charged with a USB Type-C charging cable (not included in the box).

A mix of led lights informs the user of the battery level so you know when your device needs charging. We recommend keeping the device above 30% battery level as a low battery level can lead to leaking, due to the device not having enough power to vaporise all the e-liquid which causes the excess to leak out the pod.

The pods come pre-fitted with a meshed 0.9ohm coil so there is no faffing around changing coils. When you pod begins to taste burnt simply fill up a new one and swap it out with the old one, no mess!

Performance

The Lost Mary UK version is 20mg which is the maximum allowed under the TPD and is a standard strength offered in salt nic e-liquids. This makes it a good starting place to move on to a more permanent vape kit.

With a 0.9ohm coil installed the AK2 is an MTL vapers dream. With consistent vapour production and even flavour throughout the Uwell performs exceptionally well with 5050 vape juice.

So who wins?

If you are in the market for a cheap vape, are new to vaping or simply want a backup device for your main kit, the Lost Marys and other disposables are an excellent intro to vaping.

Once you have factored in the cost, the flavours and the rolling shortages of stock in the UK it becomes an easy choice to make.

We wouldn't look at Lost Mary vapes or any disposable as a long-term vaping product. The environmental impact is one factor but there's also so much choice in vape kits with added features, designs and performance you'd be mad to stick to the basics for too long.

You can find the Lost Mary available here or maybe you would prefer the AK2 or other similar kit from Uwell available here.

We hope you enjoyed reading this article and have learned a little about the difference in performance, cost, and environmental impact between disposables and one of our best selling pod kits.
