How Much Nicotine Is In An Elf Bar?

Elf Bars can be a great brand to check out when you’re first starting to vape. The Elf Bar brand has appeal for both beginner vapers and more experienced vapers, and you’ve likely seen many ex-smokers using Elf Bars to get their nicotine fix.

The simple answer is that it very much depends on the specific Elf Bar product. However, the nicotine content in an Elf Bar can certainly help you in your mission to wean yourself off traditional cigarettes.

Given the well-publicised health benefits of switching from smoking tobacco cigarettes to vaping e-liquids, you could understandably be looking to buy an e-cigarette for the first time. But which one should you buy?

The disposables in Elf Bar’s most popular range of e-cigarettes — Elf Bar 600 — come pre-filled with nicotine salt e-liquid. The nicotine strength of the Elf Bar 600 e-liquid is 20mg/ml — or, as it can otherwise be represented, 2%.

For example, nic salts usually come in 20mg/ml, 10mg/ml or 5mg/ml concentrations, whereas freebase usually comes in 3mg/ml, 6mg/ml, 12mg/ml, or 18mg/ml concentrations.

What About Bigger Elf Bars?

When travelling abroad, such as to the United States, you might have seen Elf Bars with an e-liquid capacity exceeding 2ml. However, in the UK, these particular Elf Bars cannot be legally sold, and so are not available from reputable sellers. 

Under vaping regulations, the maximum e-liquid capacity permitted for any vape device sold in the UK is 2ml. This caps the legally allowed capacity of puff count for an electronic cigarette at roughly 600.

  • Elf Bar Pi7000 (up to 7,000 puffs)

As you can see, then, an Elf Bar’s model number is often a good guide as to how much e-liquid the tank can hold at a time. 

Though you may notice some UK suppliers offering these larger Elf Bars, you need to keep in mind that these will have been brought into the country illegally and may not have passed safety checks like those imposed on Elf Bars we offer at TABLites.

Those checks cover, for example, electrical safety. This means that, if a UK retailer does sell you an Elf Bar that is larger than the legal requirements, there is the potential risk of it leaking, sparking, or even exploding!

In addition, In the US, Elf Bars are available with e-juices containing the following milligrammes of nicotine salt per millilitre: 

  • 0 mg/ml (0% nicotine strength)
  • 30 mg/ml (3% nicotine strength)
  • 50 mg/ml (5% nicotine strength)

Meanwhile, in the UK, you can legally buy disposable vapes and e-liquids with a maximum nicotine concentration of 20 mg/ml (2% nicotine strength).

What is the TPD Directive? And How Does it Affect Elf Bars?

What UK legislation places limits on how much nicotine is in an Elf Bar? The answer: the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR).

These regulations were implemented in order to bring the European Union’s Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) into force in the UK.

Two other pieces of legislation were later enacted to ensure that the TRPR would continue to function as the UK left the European Union: 

The TRPR as it currently stands has a number of notable implications for Elf Bars — both disposable and refillable vape models — sold in the UK. For example: 

  • Elf Bar tanks are restricted to a maximum capacity of 2ml 
  • Elf Bar e-liquids cannot have more than 20mg/ml of nicotine content
