Why opt for a disposable vape alternative?

The vape kits in this collection are compact, easy to use, and provide exactly the same sensation as disposable vapes - the only difference is you refill the vape with e-liquid or pre-filled pods rather than throwing it away when the juice runs out.

There are a number of reasons why non-disposable vapes are a better alternative to disposables:

  • More affordable in the long run: Reusable vapes are typically more cost-effective in the long run compared to disposables. Instead of continuously purchasing new devices, you can simply refill the e-liquid. E-liquids are much cheaper than disposable vapes and will last you longer before they need replacing.
  • Better for the environment: Reusable vapes are more environmentally friendly compared to disposable options. They produce far less waste and the only components that need to be thrown away are the used pods or coils rather than the entire kit.
  • Greater control over nicotine strength: Most disposable vapes are only available in the highest nicotine strength (20mg), which means there’s no flexibility to choose the strength that best suits your needs. E-liquids for reusable vapes, on the other hand, are available in a wide variety of strengths, so you have the option to decrease your nicotine intake over time - there are even nicotine-free e-liquids available if you want to cut nicotine out completely.
  • Experiment with tailored settings: Reusable vape kits often come with customisable settings such as wattage, airflow, and temperature control. This allows for a more tailored vaping experience compared to disposable vapes, which only have one standard setting that cannot be adjusted.

Also, the sale of single-use disposable vapes will be banned in England as of 1st June 2025. We recommend making the switch as soon as possible to allow yourself time to get used to reusable alternatives.

Don’t worry - non-disposable vapes are super easy to use and there are plenty of options that replicate the same throat hit as disposables, so you’ll hardly notice the change. You can also get all your favourite disposable vape flavours in e-liquid form!

What alternatives to disposable vapes are available?

There are two main alternatives to disposable vapes: prefilled vape kits and refillable vape kits. Refillable vapes are the best option in terms of cost-effectiveness and environmental impact, but you might prefer to start with prefilled vapes as a stepping stone between disposables and refillable kits - the choice is yours!

For more information on the differences between each type of non-disposable vape, check out our blog: Disposable vs Prefilled vs Refillable Vapes.

Prefilled vapes

Prefilled vapes come with prefilled e-liquid cartridges or pods and are a popular alternative to disposable vapes as they offer a similar vaping experience. They can be used multiple times simply by replacing the pod or cartridge and charging the battery.

The fact that these vapes come pre-filled with vape juice eliminates the need for manual filling or refilling, making them ideal for those who are used to disposables and not ready to make the jump to refillable vape kits just yet. However, ultimately prefilled vapes must still be thrown away, which makes them less environmentally friendly than refillable kits.

Refillable vape kits

Refillable vapes allow users to manually refill the e-liquid into the device. They are rechargeable and don’t need to be thrown away like disposables - you simply refill the pod with e-liquid and replace the coil when needed.

These vapes offer vapers the most flexibility and the greatest range of flavours. They’re also the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly, but may take more time to adapt to for those who have been used to disposables.

Mouth to lung (MTL) vape kits are the best option for those transitioning from disposables as they provide a very similar throat hit - check out our blog on the best MTL vapes if you’re not sure which option to choose.

There are plenty of starter vape kits available that are great for beginners; these are typically draw-activated like disposables and feature limited buttons and settings so you don’t feel overwhelmed. You can gradually build up to more advanced vape kits that allow you to tailor things like airflow and wattage, or start exploring sub-ohm vape kits which are designed for more advanced vapers.

Alternatives to disposable vapes FAQs

Are disposable vapes cheaper than reusable vapes?

Although the upfront cost of disposable vapes is cheaper, they are likely to cost you much more than reusable vapes in the long run. Bottles of e-liquid are not only more affordable than disposable vapes but also last longer, so you won’t have to buy new ones as often.

At TABlites, we have a number of great deals available - save big by taking advantage of 3 for £10 on e-liquids.

Can disposable vapes be refilled?

Unless the device is sold as being refillable, disposable vapes cannot be refilled. They also have single-use batteries designed to last approximately as long as the e-liquid inside, which means even if the device could be refilled, the battery would die soon after.

Can I recycle used disposable vapes?

Disposable vapes can be recycled by dropping them off at your local TABlites vape store or designated electrical waste collection point. However, 5 million single-use vapes are binned a week, perhaps because people find this more convenient than visiting a recycling point.

For this reason, it’s still best to switch to non-disposable vapes in order to reduce your environmental impact. These devices typically last upwards of a year before they need replacing, massively reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. The only parts that need to be disposed of are the used pods or coils, but these produce much less waste compared to single-use disposables.
