Corex 2.0 atomiser coils are an improved version of the original Vaporesso Corex coils that are built-in to Vaporesso pod cartridges for satisfying vapour hits with an extended lifespan. They have been newly upgraded with a morph-mesh coil structure that’s denser than previous models with a thinner mesh in the centre purpose built for even heating. The mesh coil structure resembles a small grid of finely woven meshed metal to form a mesh screen that heats e-liquid over an increased surface area.
Even heat distribution vape coils are a relatively new invention but provide an elevated vaping experience with more consistent flavour and increased vapour production. The high performance coil heats up evenly and quickly over a larger surface coverage of the coil reducing battery power required for heating. As less battery is used, less strain is applied to the coil making them last longer than traditional spiral coil designs and your vape battery doesn’t need charging as frequently. There are also less hot spots, or less heat that’s channelled to one area of the mesh coil which causes the coil to work harder as a result tastes burnt faster and causes more dry hits when you vape.
A fluffier cumulus cotton is used in Vaporesso Corex 2.0 mesh pods as a wicking material to filter e-liquid to the coil for heating. This allows more room for the e-liquid to completely saturate the cotton effectively. When you puff on your vape with a small amount of e-liquid in your tank, the fluffier material will soak up more e-liquid than previously and reduce premature coil burn out. Better e-liquid to coil wicking results in reliable, consistent and more flavourful vapour hits that last longer.

Vaporesso’s scientists realised that vape flavour is one of the most crucial components of a pleasurable vaping experience. How we perceive flavour is complex and categorised into 6 taste profiles; sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent. As well as taste of e-liquid on our tongues, the aroma of e-liquid and smell plays an important role. Since vaping began the focus was on flavour as well as vapour production and creating larger vape clouds.
Until now there wasn’t much focus on other flavour profiles other than sweet tasting e-liquids. But in the UK we enjoy a wide range of vape flavour profiles ranging from; tobacco e-liquids and menthol e-liquids, to fruit, candy, soda, dessert and bakery flavours which are complex and need more focus when developing vape coils.
Dr. Zhou, a scientist at SMOORE Lab, who own the Vaporesso brand discovered that to fully unlock the full potential of the flavour of vapour, temperature plays an integral role.
“We’ve collected and tested thousands of liquids from the market just to discover how vaping devices can deliver the best flavour. We’ve come to some interesting conclusions from our research, but most importantly, we can say that Flavour is the art of temperature.”
The focus when creating Corex 2.0 coil pods was temperature control for maximum flavour delivery.
“All vape devices from the beginning of vaping till now share the same basic heating mechanism. This includes some kind of storage for the e-liquid, a heating coil and a wick. When you heat up the coil in a device, the heat will vaporise the e-liquid from the wick, delivering it to the user. Typically the range that users tend to vape at exists anywhere from 100°C - 315°C. But at the lower end of this range the vapour and subsequent flavour is pretty weak, and at the higher end puffs are harsh and the flavour can degrade from the PG (Propylene Glycol) breaking down.”
Dr. Zhou continued. “There exists a smaller temperature range in between these extremes - the ‘sweet spot’ if you may - in which users will experience ideal flavour delivery that is strong, and gives an accurate representation of the e-liquid’s flavour profile while remaining smooth. After thousands of tests with thousands of flavours from different manufacturers, we found that the zone of best flavour expression exists between 200°-260° C, depending on the vape juice.”
“With the recently developed COREX technology, we hope to solve the problem of inconsistent heating and flavour delivery. Using a new MORPH-Mesh coil design with a greater surface area for heating, a larger ratio of the coil can reach the optimum flavour delivery temperature. For users, this translates to bigger, more flavourful clouds.” Said Dr. Zhou.
Vape coils naturally degrade over time as the cotton wicking material loses its effectiveness in absorbing e-liquid. Vaporesso initially used silica-based wicks and organic cotton in their coils, but these materials were found to wear out with use. As the coils begin to deteriorate, they often produce spicy, metallic, or burnt flavours, which negatively affect the taste of the e-liquid.
“We’ve checked all cotton materials in the market, but couldn’t find any that fit our requirements. So we decided to make one of our own.” Dr. Zhou said. In adopting the industry’s first 3D spun lace process, Zhou’s team succeeded in making a patented COREX cotton wick. Comprised of microfibers which give it a cloud-like fluffy texture and greater surface area, COREX cotton abstracts e-liquid more efficiently, thoroughly, and evenly compared to standard cotton wicks.
“According to lab tests, the COREX cotton’s flavour retention is 40% higher than that of traditional cotton, and has a service life 20% longer than that of a traditional cotton core. For users, this means every puff carries the same flavourful punch, even after longer use.” Said Dr. Zhou.
