How To Fix Common Problems with the OXVA Xlim: Complete Troubleshooting Guide

The OXVA Xlim is a popular series of pod vape kits known for their sleek design, excellent flavour production, and user-friendly features. However, like any electronic device, they may occasionally experience issues that can be frustrating for the user.

In this troubleshooting guide, we’ll help you identify and fix the most frequent issues that users face with this range of OXVA vapes, whether it’s that your OXVA Xlim is not turning on or that the device is leaking.

Common OXVA Xlim issues and how to fix them

1. Device not turning on

Issue: Your OXVA Xlim is not turning on, even after several attempts.

Possible fixes:

  • Check the power button: Try pressing the power button five times in quick succession to turn the device on. It could be that you’ve not pressed it the right number of times.
  • Charge the device: You could be experiencing this issue because the battery is dead. Connect the device to a power source using the original charging cable and wait at least 30 minutes for it to charge. If the OXVA Xlim is not turning on but charging, it could be that you’re trying to turn it back on too soon.
  • Inspect the charging port: Check the charging port for dust or debris - if it’s blocked, this could be preventing the device from charging. Blowing into the port can sometimes be enough to clear it, or you might need to use a small brush to clean it out.
  • Try a different cable: If the device still won’t turn on, try using a different cable. It could be that the cable is faulty and preventing the device from charging properly.

2. Auto draw not working

Issue: The auto draw feature on your OXVA Xlim isn’t working when you inhale on the mouthpiece.

Possible fixes:

  • Clean the airflow sensor: The issue could be caused by something blocking the airflow sensor. Remove the pod and blow on the sensor or clean it with a cotton bud to remove any blockages.
  • Check for blockages: If something is obstructing the airflow, this could be preventing the auto draw from working. Ensure nothing is blocking the airflow by blowing into the airflow port.
  • Remove the pod: Removing and reinserting the vape pod should reset the sensor and may restore the auto draw functionality. If the problem persists, try using a different pod.

3. ‘No atomiser’ error

Issue: The device shows a ‘no atomiser’ error on the screen when you try to take a puff, meaning it’s not detecting the coil in your tank or pod.

Possible fixes:

  • Check the connection: Dust or vape juice could be interfering with the connection between the coil and the device. Remove the pod and inspect the base of the tank to ensure the connection between the coil and device is clean and secure. Wipe the contacts clean with a cotton bud if there is anything obscuring the connection, then reinsert the pod.
  • Check the pod: If the issue persists after cleaning the contacts, the pod could be faulty. Try replacing the pod with a new one.

4. No display when vaping

Issue: The display on your OXVA Xlim doesn’t turn on even when you take a puff from the device.

Possible fixes:

  • Check the screen settings: Some OXVA Xlim devices have a feature that allows the screen to stay off during use to save battery. Consult the user manual to find out if this applies.
  • Inspect the power button: A sticky power button could be preventing the display from lighting up, so check the button is working properly.
  • Check for firmware updates: If your device allows firmware updates, make sure you’re updated to the latest version. Firmware issues can sometimes cause issues with the display.
  • Reboot the device: Turn the device off and on again by pressing the fire button five times in quick succession. This simple reset can often resolve display problems.

5. High temperature warning

Issue: Your OXVA Xlim shows a ‘high temperature’ warning on the display, which indicates the device is overheating.

Possible fixes:

  • Leave the device to cool: Stop using the device and give it time to cool down. Continuing to use it while it’s too hot could damage the internal components and may be a safety hazard.
  • Check your environment: If you’re vaping in a hot environment this could be causing the device to overheat. Try moving somewhere cooler to cool the device down.
  • Inspect the pod: Overheating could be caused by a faulty or old pod drawing too much power. If the pod is old, try replacing it to resolve the issue.
  • Avoid chain vaping: Continuous vaping without breaks between can cause the device to overheat and is bad for the device in general. Try to take longer pauses between puffs.

6. Device making a humming sound

Issue: The device is making a humming sound when you draw on the mouthpiece.

Possible fixes:

  • Set the device to a higher wattage: Try turning up the wattage on your device. It could be that your wattage setting is lower than the optimal wattage for your coil resistance.

7. Battery not going up when charging

Issue: The device is charging but the battery icon on the display isn’t going up.

Possible fixes:

  • Clean the charging port: It could be that something is blocking the charging port and preventing the battery from charging. Try cleaning out the charging point by blowing into it or using a small brush to remove any dust or dirt.
  • Try a different cable: If the device still doesn’t seem to be charging properly, it could be that the cable is faulty. Try swapping to a different cable and don’t use any cables that are above 1.5A - these could overheat and damage the device.
  • Try a hard reset: When the device is plugged in, press the fire button seven times to clear the puff counter and do a ‘hard reset’. This might resolve the issue if cleaning the port and using a different cable hasn’t worked.

8. Device leaking

Issue: E-liquid is leaking out of your OXVA Xlim device.

Possible fixes:

  • Check the pod: Make sure the pod is properly sealed. The e-liquid might be leaking out because you haven’t sealed the pod correctly after refilling.
  • Avoid overfilling: Another common reason for leaky devices is overfilling the pod. Make sure you’re only filling the pod up to the recommended level.
  • Check you’re using the right e-liquid: 50/50 e-liquids and nic salts are recommended for OXVA Xlim devices. Your device is likely to leak if you use a high VG e-liquid as these aren’t compatible with these devices.

What if my OXVA Xlim is still faulty after trying the above?

If you’ve tried troubleshooting the issue and still can’t get your OXVA Xlim working, it could be that the device itself is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the device is relatively new, you should be able to return it to the store you bought it from and get a replacement free of charge.

However, if there’s any evidence to suggest the device isn’t working due to improper use, the store may refuse to replace it. Below, we’ve compiled some tips to help you keep your OXVA Xlim in the best possible condition and ensure issues happen less frequently.

Maintenance tips to keep your OXVA Xlim in the best condition

1. Regularly clean the device

Wipe down the exterior of your OXVA Xlim device and clean the pod connections regularly. This helps prevent any e-liquid residue from building up, which could prevent the device from working properly and permanently damage the mechanisms if it gets inside the device.

Check out our guide to cleaning your vape for more information.

2. Use recommended e-liquids

For optimal performance, make sure you only use nic salts or 50/50 PG/VG e-liquids. These e-liquids are most compatible with MTL vape kits like those found in the OXVA Xlim range, while high VG e-liquids are less compatible and could damage the device.

3. Charge properly and avoid overcharging

Make sure you use the charging cable provided with your OXVA Xlim device for optimal performance and to prevent damage to the battery. If you have to use a different cable for whatever reason, make sure it’s between 1-1.5A - any cable with a higher output than this could damage the battery. Take care not to overcharge the device as well, as this could also damage the battery.

4. Store the device safely to prevent damage

Your OXVA Xlim device should be stored upright to prevent damage or leaks. You should also keep it away from extreme temperatures as this is likely to damage the device and stop it from working properly.
