Ok, here we have the final instalment of my rundown of the Top 5 kits series and we’re ending it with the heavyweights of the vape world, advanced vape kits!
An advanced vaping kit could mean a few different things such as, power output, an interactable screen where you can tailor the device to your style and the ability to see these setting easily displayed on the screen etc. They will often take removable batteries and be able to run “sub-ohm” coils with ease.
Here is a list of my top 5 advanced vape kits from 2019. Ready? Let’s go!
1. OBS – Cube X Kit.
The OBS Cube X is an update to the original Cube device which now takes a removable 18650 battery instead of a built in battery which is great for anyone who prefers to use their own. As the name suggests the Cube is square in appearance but all the corners and base are rounded off so there are no sharp edges and it still manages to be pocket friendly.
The OBS Cube X comes with the Cube tank just the same as the original did but this isn’t a bad thing by any means, the Cube Tank is a superb sub ohm atomiser that provides great flavour and fantastic vapour production.
I really think this is a superb sub ohm kit and a refreshing change from a more common box mod for example. If you want a sub ohm kit that stands out from the crowd then you won’t go wrong with the OBS Cube X Kit.

2. Geekvape – Aegis Mini Kit.
Would you like a mod that is indestructible? Sounds too good to be true, right? Nope!
Geekvape have gone and done the unthinkable by making a device that is waterproof, shock proof and dust proof and still managed to make it look stunning in the process.
There are many videos on YouTube where the Aegis is put through the most ridiculous torture and it just keeps on going. Now, with that being said I wouldn’t recommend that you actively try and break your lovely new mod but it’s nice to know that it can take the rough and tumble of everyday life with ease, and if you have a physical job where you may put extra stress on your gear then this is the one to go for.
This little beast comes complete with the Cerberus tank which not only looks excellent on the device, it also provides a superb vape thanks to the mesh coils Geekvape have developed which have more surface area over the wicking material to give more flavour and vapour production.
I know what you’re thinking, “Why do I need a device with all that for?” Well, I have a watch that goes to a depth of 1000m, I have no intention of doing that but it’s nice to know I’m covered if I drop it in the sink ;-D

3. Smok Mag Grip Kit.Smok Mag Grip Kit
Smok are well known for taking risks and making devices that are as much a conversation piece as they are an electronic cigarette and the Smok Mag Grip Kit is certainly no exception.
At first glance it may seem a little strange to have a mod in the shape of a pistol grip but when you think about it it’s actually kind of genius, pistol grips are designed to be comfortable and fit the shape of your hand in the most ergonomic way possible making the Smok Mag Grip Kit one of the most comfortable mods available today.
The mag part of the name comes from how you “load” the batteries, a simple button press releases the battery clip which then snaps back into the body of the device and the James Bond theme tune starts to play (at least in my head anyway!).
The Smok Mag Grip Kit also has superb battery options, it will take a 21700 or 20700 battery directly but also comes supplied with an 18650 adapter sleeve too so you shouldn’t have any problems loading up your favourite battery.
The tank supplied with this kit is the TFV-Mini V2 which like all of the TFV series tanks before it is pretty spectacular to say the least, extremely good flavour and epic cloud production. Smok haven’t gone overboard on the coil selection for a change either and just stuck with a 0.15ohm mesh coil and a 0.15ohm round wire coil which both work flawlessly.
This is definitely a little more out there than most mods but with stellar performance, immense comfort and a big name like Smok behind it the Mag Grip Kit has the competition in its sights and is taking aim (I’m not even sorry for that terrible pun!)

4. Aspire Zelos 2.0 Kit.Aspire Zelos 2.0 Kit
Not all advanced vape kits have to be sub ohm cloud chucking monsters, you can also vape your 50/50 e-liquid or Tablites Nic Salts in style too!
Aspire launched the Zelos in the late part of 2018 but it still remains very popular and in my opinion is still the best advanced MTL kit around. The Zelos device is small and sleek with an elegant screen that displays all of your settings, wattage up and down buttons and a fire button and that’s it, nice and simple.
The best part comes in the form of the Nautilus 2S Tank which is nothing short of amazing. The Nautilus has been around in various forms for years at this point and is still as popular to this day.
The Nautilus 2S is very easy to use and the adjustable airflow is smooth and can handle virtually any style of draw you like, it is a fairly restricted lung hitter but not bad at all.
The 2S is compatible with the original 1.8ohm Nautilus BVC Coils and the new 0.7ohm coils which are fantastic for flavour production.
If you’re a fan of PG, 50/50 or nicotine salt liquids and want something a little more upmarket then the Zelos 2.0 Kit could be the one you’re looking for.

5. Voopoo Drag Mini (Mod Only)
I’ve kind of cheated a little here as the Voopoo Drag Mini is just the device only and doesn’t come supplied with a tank but I thought I’d add it to the list for two reasons:
1) It’s one of the best selling and most popular devices on the market.
2) I thought I’d add an option where someone who isn’t looking for a full kit could find something useful from this blog.
The Voopoo Drag Mini is part of the extremely popular Drag series which have been around for a little while now. It looks beautiful with the resin panel on one side and the laser etching on the other displaying the name of the device. It is super reliable due to the Gene Chip which was created by Voopoo and can be found in all of their Drag series devices, it offers excellent power and rapid heat up time even on a low battery. It has a built in battery and can put out a whopping 117 watts of power so you’re well covered no matter what you throw at it.
I find the Voopoo Drag Mini works perfectly with the Aspire Cleito 120 Pro as it has the power to push the coils to the limit if you want to get a really intense vape but also works just as well at 60 watts for a nice laid back vape if that’s your preference.
The Voopoo Drag Mini is one of the most popular devices of all time and once you have used one you will definitely see why.
